An introductory session designed to give inexperienced and new clerks an overview of a council's year, along with a basic understanding of the RFO role. If you have more than 9 month's experience or more this session is unlikely to cover anything you dont already know. Please leave this session for very new clerks and book yourself onto the more detailed session below.

Councillor Code of Conduct - delivered by SALC
Councillors represent local residents, work to develop better services and deliver local change. The public have high expectations and entrust councillors to represent the local area, taking decisions fairly, openly and transparently. Councillors have both an individual and collective responsibility to meet these expectations by maintaining high standards and demonstrating good conduct. As a clerk, it is important that you understand the councillor code of conduct.
Councillors should be able to undertake their role without being intimidated, abused, bullied, or threatened by anyone, including the general public.
