Support for winter fuel allowance
information to share with your residents

We have received the following information as members of the Collaborative Communities Board and a request that we help as part of providing  Suffolk-wide support by promoting pension credit across communities.  We have been provided with materials supplied by the Dept of Work and Pensions  which we have stored in this shared folder to allow you to use in a variety of ways – eg social media, newsletters, posters, website etc. The script below can be used to explain the key message.

SUPPORTING SCRIPT

As the winter months approach, we want to ensure that all of Suffolk’s residents who are entitled to the Winter Fuel Allowance this year, receive it. To do that, residents must be claiming Pension Credit, and the deadline to apply is 21 December.  There are many older residents in the county who are eligible for pension credit but either have never applied, or whose circumstances have changed meaning they are now eligible.  The benefit is worth an average of £3,900 per year, so is worth applying for Pension Credit at any time of the year. Check today if you could receive it, by visiting www.gov.uk/pension-credit or calling 0800 99 1234
